Notes
Personal note from Andrew W. Symington, as per the signed certificate included with the bottle.
This Single Malt Scotch Whisky was distilled on 7th February 1966 at Glen Grant Distillery in Rothes. The whisky was filled into a first use sherry hogshead, cask number 884 and remained in that cask until bottling, yielding just 108 bottles.
Very dark mahogany in colour, the whisky is very powerful and robust. If you can imagine a liquid Christmas cake you capture the essence of this one. Lovely soaked raisins, figs and orange peel. Very long and warming finish with the fruits morphing into marzipan and sugared almonds. Quite waxy, almost chewy.
The whisky was disgorged and bottled under my supervision in the Town of Pitlochry on 14th July 2016.

The first thing that strikes you about this whisky is its colour: it is so light, a first clue at the delicate nature of the dram. Sweet vanilla up front, with light, fresh apple and runny honey. The palate is elegant, too, even though the peatsmoke begins to intensify. More vanilla throughout is balanced by … Continued

Salted milk chocolate, pecans drizzled in honey, baked apples with a dusting of icing sugar. A very engaging palate, it asks to be sipped again; light and sweet at first, with malty characters of butter pastry and enduring mouthfeel.
