Notes
Springbank is one of the last surviving distilleries in Campbeltown, Kintyre. Once a hub of distilling, the town’s heritage is remembered in the old song “Campbeltown Loch”.
Famed for producing an idiosyncratic, old-style whisky, expectations from Springbank are always high – and this bottling doesn’t disappoint. A gloriously peaty nose refracts into engine oil, camphor, barley sugars, cola cubes, lime zest and smoky wild garlic. The palate has a pleasingly thick texture, delivering an incredible array of flavour; from boot polish and beeswax to peat bog and leather, all with lashings of austere fruit. A coastal tang echoes on the finish. One can’t help but be blown away at the sheer strength of character in this dram.

Bowmore is the capital of Islay. Its namesake distillery lies on the shores of Loch Indaal.
