Tropical fruits and red berries initially, complemented by subtle beeswax and aniseed notes, with a lingering hint of tobacco. On the palate cracked black pepper with ripe banana, pear and red apple. These combine with charred oak and coffee flavours.

Bacon straight away, but that then fades and gives way to warm bonfire, sweet tobacco and just a note of rubber. With more time in the glass treacle, cereal and pleasant soapiness. The palate is lead by sweet fruit and honey, then peppery heat, and an oily, woodsmoke finish. A complex and evolving whisky.

Noses a wee bit younger than you’ld expect from a 10 year, but the bright, complex spirit is full of baked pears, sherry richness, touches of ginger and white pepper and a pleasingly drying puff of smoke at the close.
