Notes
Waxy on the nose, then slow sweet, gingery cake above traces of lemon zest, honey and fresh mint on ripe red apple. Later, fruit salad with banana. The palate brings dark toffee and spice; notes of salt and flint. Then toasty, with hints of apple strudel and toasted coconut; marzipan, chocolate, heather and menthol. Slowly drying and very long finish.

Soft brown sugar, touch of marzipan, peach, nutty oak, dollops of cream and chocolate: a boozy trifle

Bacon straight away, but that then fades and gives way to warm bonfire, sweet tobacco and just a note of rubber. With more time in the glass treacle, cereal and pleasant soapiness. The palate is lead by sweet fruit and honey, then peppery heat, and an oily, woodsmoke finish. A complex and evolving whisky.

Noses a wee bit younger than you’ld expect from a 10 year, but the bright, complex spirit is full of baked pears, sherry richness, touches of ginger and white pepper and a pleasingly drying puff of smoke at the close.
