A beautifully balanced single grain whisky from a now-silent Glasgow distillery, closed in 2010. Werther’s Originals, sweet red fruit and vanilla, hints of wood polish – almost rum-like. Warm orange peel and light lemon sweets. On the palate this is still undoubtedly Ardbeg, although in a lighter guise. Tobacco leaf and sweet hay mix with honeyed notes … Continued

Bacon straight away, but that then fades and gives way to warm bonfire, sweet tobacco and just a note of rubber. With more time in the glass treacle, cereal and pleasant soapiness. The palate is lead by sweet fruit and honey, then peppery heat, and an oily, woodsmoke finish. A complex and evolving whisky.
