Notes
A burst of heather and freshly mowed grass on the nose followed by honey, pear skin and wood shavings. Hints of butter, cheesecake, fresh cream and digestive biscuit. The palate is elegant and gentle. Butterscotch and vanilla, sugarcane and molasses develop as the influence from the rum cask engulfs the palate with apricots, peaches and paprika. In the finish a soft smokiness is present in the background. Toffee apples, raisins and oat biscuits emerge. In the foreground peppercorn, almonds and apricot jam are prominent.

Lemon and orange barley sweets on the nose, which opens up to give cereal notes with the addition of water. Lemon barley again, on the palate, with pleasant honeysuckle and sweetness in the finish.

Noses a wee bit younger than you’ld expect from a 10 year, but the bright, complex spirit is full of baked pears, sherry richness, touches of ginger and white pepper and a pleasingly drying puff of smoke at the close.
