Bit of Background: James Eadie are one of our favourite indie bottlers with whisky roots stretching back to the 19^th century when Mr Eadie was the largest private bottler of whisky in the UK. Today they routinely produce single cask & small batch gems, but today we are looking at a sterling example of their work as blenders.

Much like its stunning looking label pays tribute to two Fife icons – one ancient, Dunfermline Abbey, and one modern, the Queensferry Crossing, the Fife Blend is truly a bit of history, the first blended Scotch that can trace every drop in the bottle to Fife distilleries for almost 100 years. A fusion of just two casks – a 15yo first fill bourbon cask from a farmhouse distillery, just 4.2 miles from our Cupar shop, that we couldn’t possibly mention and marsala cask finish of Cameronbridge of an age we can’t even hint at, but 5×5 is such an interesting maths problem don’t you think?

Nose: Bananas being caramelised in maple syrup, dried apricots & mango slices, strawberry laces, & lemon sherbets.

Palate: Nectarines being poached in golden syrup with star anise and ginger, brambles, milk chocolate, sweet tobacco and just a twist of black pepper at the finish.

Final Thoughts: From the closure of Auchtertool in 1927, to the opening of 5 new distilleries in the 21^stcentury, Cameronbridge stood alone in Fife, with no malt companion to its grain. This dram is tribute to what a tragedy that is. Rich, sweet, complex and proof that Fife Strength (56.3%) is both delicious and dangerously drinkable.
