Notes
A wee something to brighten these strange times, this most recent Ardbeg Day expression stays true to form with its quirky and exciting arrival! We know what you’re thinking: that’s a weird name even by Ardbeg’s standard! Blaaack pays homage to the New Zealand Pinot Noir casks the whisky has been finished in, as well as the many, MANY wee sheepies that grace the same island state! Legend has it they outnumber humans 7:1, so best to keep them onside, we suppose…
Tasting notes from the Distillery:
AROMA
Baked summer fruit pudding, Cedar wood/cigar box, smoky jam tarts, oak tannins, truffles. With water an intense ‘bitter cherry’ scent, a curious salty/savoury note, and then some lovely, perfumed violet notes.
TASTE
A velvety/mouth furring texture leads into delicious symphony of contrasting flavours savory & sweet and the same time. Aniseed & soot, summer fruits (cherries, strawberry’s, apricots and pears), pastry/cake mix, dark chocolate, coffee and more bitter cherries and almond.
FINISH
A long lingering sooty finish
