Nose is distinctly malty, initially, with hints of a woodland hedgerow, delicate sherry notes, rich, indulgent toffee, sweet liquorice and orange marmalade. The palate is reminiscent of Black Forest cake: fruity blackcurrant jam, maraschino cherry and creamy vanilla. Freshly peeled orange notes add a fresh lift.

Raisins, berries, dark chocolate, cloves and cinnamon. Rich and wonderful. Sweet toffee pudding, dried fruits and some sherry oak on the palate. More dark chocolate and spices on the finish.

Orange marmalade is balanced by a leafy freshness on the nose, with the slightest hints of toffee to bring sweetness. On the palate slightly bitter maraschino cherries are chased by a creamy vanilla and then give way, once again to orange marmalade.

Dark chocolate and coffee mingle with oily smoked fish, cracked black pepper and lemon balm. On the palate more dark chocolate, smoky bacon, cloves, burnt toffee, an oily, briny texture and a tarry finish. Beach, bonfire, friends.

Bacon straight away, but that then fades and gives way to warm bonfire, sweet tobacco and just a note of rubber. With more time in the glass treacle, cereal and pleasant soapiness. The palate is lead by sweet fruit and honey, then peppery heat, and an oily, woodsmoke finish. A complex and evolving whisky.

Salted milk chocolate, pecans drizzled in honey, baked apples with a dusting of icing sugar. A very engaging palate, it asks to be sipped again; light and sweet at first, with malty characters of butter pastry and enduring mouthfeel.
