Light, grassy notes up front, melon, green grapes. This is followed by warming apricot tones and some cereal, maltiness. The palate is pleasingly fresh, with bright fruit notes given weight by sweet barley sugar and an oaky finish.

The nose is polished old oats, cocoa powder and roasted nuts. A bit sweeter on the palate (especially with a touch of water) with a combination of praline, caramel and dark chocolate reminding me of a particularly classy Snickers!

Barley sugars, salted caramel, blanched almond and dried apricots on the nose. Initial delicate sweetness on the palate gives way to creamy cereal – Special K topped with granola! – and a drying finish.

Bacon straight away, but that then fades and gives way to warm bonfire, sweet tobacco and just a note of rubber. With more time in the glass treacle, cereal and pleasant soapiness. The palate is lead by sweet fruit and honey, then peppery heat, and an oily, woodsmoke finish. A complex and evolving whisky.
