Single cask, port-matured, cask strength 18 year old Ballechin, exclusive to Luvians.
Distillery Note:
Ballechin is the heavily peated malt that we make at Edradour, using malt that is usually peated to a level of at least 50ppm. Distilled on 20th April 2004 and filled into cask number 202, a carefully selected first use Port hogshead, and the spirit was fully matured in that cask.
Burnt orange in colour, the spirit reveals notes of soft black grapes, dates, prunes, spicy herbs and saddle leather, wrapped around the rich smoke and peat from the Ballechin spirit. Hints of cinnamon and leaf tobacco also emerge on the finish. Despite its relatively low strength, this is a feisty malt.
