Herding Unicorns

We are delighted to have received an allocation of the two latest single cask releases from our local cult distillery – Daftmill. As always, enquires by phone, email, social media & carrier pigeon have already vastly out stripped the number of bottles we have so we have tried to be as inventive as we can to come up with a plan to get every bottle into the hands of local enthusiasts, loyal customers & dedicated drinkers! You’ll find all the details of how we are splitting our allocation below:

Daftmill Bourbon Cask #38/2009

Our allocation of this was understandably small given that there are only 224 bottles to share around the whole of the UK! To get as many people tasting as possible we have split 3 bottles into minatures. One bottle’s worth of minis will be available for sale at our St Andrews & Cupar shops from 10am on Saturday 6^th of November (minis will be labelled in house at Luvians and have no collectable value), first come first served no more than one per household, priced at £9.95.

The other minis will be included in our next allocation tasting, Luvians St Andrews 25^th Birthday Whiskypalooza. We are currently waiting for our single cask 25^th Birthday Release from Lindores to be bottled, as soon as we receive these bottles we will be announcing the date & pricing for this very special tasting which includes whisky from Daftmill, Ardbeg, Ardnamurchan, Lindores, Mackmyra & Glen Scotia. At the end of the Whiskypalooza tasting, which we hope to hold via Zoom in late November, we will be balloting (along with other limited edition bottles on show) 3 bottles of the Dafmill Bourbon Cask #38/2009 at £155 among those attending the tasting.

Daftmill Sherry Cask #46/2009

Our allocation here was marginally bigger given that there were 700 bottles produced, but still nowhere near enough to be more than a drop in the ocean compared to demand. 12 bottles will be available for sale at our St Andrews shop at 10am on Saturday 6^th of November priced at £160. These are limited to one per household and cannot be purchased at the same time as the minatures of the bourbon casks – only one Daftmill product per household!

10 bottles will be balloted on December 4^th between any customer who purchases a bottle of whisky from us at www.luvians.com during the month of November. You don’t need to do anything else except purchase a bottle of whisky on the website between November 1^st & November 30^th 2021 to enter the ballot.

2 bottles will be split into minatures to feature in our Sherry Cask Spectacular tasting in January (date TBC via website) and 6 bottles will be balloted on the evening among those in attendance at the tasting (again, at original release price of £160).

We appreciate that we will never be able to satisfy everyone who is hoping to purchase a bottle or even just try a dram, but hope everyone appreciates our efforts to get as many bottles opened and enjoyed as possible while serving our community of whisky lovers here in Fife and further afield.
