Hop on the world’s first whisky cask bicycle by Renovo and Glenmorangie to win a bottle of Glenmorangie Signet on Saturday 28 October

Glenmorangie’s second Beyond The Cask series collaboration with Renovo Hardwood Bicycles has revealed the world’s first bicycles made from whisky casks.

The Highland distiller and Oregon based bicycle engineers owe much to the humble tree. Glenmorangie’s smooth single malts and Renovo’s pioneering wood bicycles are united by their craftsmanship and pioneering use of wood.

Luvians are thrilled to announce that on Saturday 28 October from 1 to 5 pm, customers will be challenged to hop on for a one-mile ride on the Renovo x Glenmorangie bike set up in Luvians Bottle Shop St Andrews. Punters clocking in under three minutes will be entered in a raffle to win a bottle of Glenmorangie Signet (worth £134.99) signed by Dr Bill Lumsden, Glenmorangie Director of Distilling & Whisky Creation. All participants will be gifted a branded tumbler for the road no matter what their time.

Throughout the afternoon, shoppers will be invited to sample Glenmorangie’s core expressions, including Glenmorangie Original and their extra matured range: Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban, Glenmorangie Lasanta and Glenmorangie Nectar D’Or.

The Glenmorangie Original bicycle is handcrafted from second-fill American oak casks once containing Glenmorangie Original. Once shipped to Renovo’s Portland workshop, Renovo innovated cut, smoothed and decorated 15 staves (individual pieces of wood that form a barrel) designed to reflect the curvature of the casks. Each bicycle is individually numbered and decorated with Glenmorangie’s Signet icon. Altogether, the hollow frame bicycles are the result of 20 hours of craftsmanship worth £5,300.

Luvians Bottle Shop St Andrews manager, Archie McDiarmid says: “Glenmorangie occupies a proud role in Luvians history. The first single malt we ever sold back in 1981, was a Glenmorangie Original and we haven’t looked back since. This ride is a unique opportunity for our customers to be part of Glenmorangie’s history, riding the first bicycle ever to be made from whisky casks and the chance to win a unique and wonderful bottle of Glenmorangie Signet.”

We at Luvians think the chance to ride a one of a kind, heirloom bicycle plus tastings of Glenmorangie around the barrel will go down a treat. Mark your diaries for 28 October!
